Can I live off $2000 a month as a student in a large city?

The stipend is $30,000 a year which works out to ~$2,000 a month after taxes from what I can tell. My rent and utilities will likely work out to be about $1,125 a month. This leaves me with ~$875 a month for food, gas, savings money, and hopefully a beer here or there.
