Vanguard is now offering a 4.5% APY in a vehicle called their "cash plus account". The account boasts FDIC insurance up to 1.25 million.

I have a Vanguard account and an Ally Bank account. My money is currently in a Vanguard money market fund because it pays more than the high yield savings account. But it was at Ally for years before that because it paid more. It's a relatively simple comparison and transfer.

So I have a savings account on Ally and a brokerage account on Vanguard, and I noticed the yield on Vanguard's money market fund VMFXX has a yield of 4.61% which is higher than the 3.60% I see on Ally. I've also read that VMFXX is as liquid as a savings account and the value does not go down like a stock or ETF.
